OTTAWA, Ontario — The field hockey season is getting closer every day and EOM’s varsity girls field hockey squad is looking for new talents.
Last week, a meeting was held at the Earl of March Secondary School for girls who might be interested in competing with the team this season.
During the meeting, students discussed how the field hockey game works and the newcomers were also invited to try out for the team.
According to the organization, knowing how to play field hockey was not an obligation to attend to the meeting because the newcomers will be taught how to play the sport throughout the season.
This is the fourth meeting organized by the athletic department this week. Previously, students interested in joining boys’ volleyball and soccer team, and girls volleyball team also had reunions to get to know more about the squad.
The field hockey team’s original practices were delayed until Sept. 28 due to bad weather and the team took the first practice as a teaching experience for the newcomers.
The learn to play style also took place on Sept. 29, which was the final practice of its type with the Sept. 30 practice being an official tryout and continuing that way until Oct. 5.
